Bio

Michael J. Bobbitt is the Producing Artistic Director of Adventure Theatre. He has directed, choreographed and performed at many theatres in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area. His National and International credits include the NY Musical Theatre Festival, Mel Tillis 2001, and 1996 Olympics. He studied creative writing and music at Susquehanna University and theatre and dance at The Washington Ballet, The Dance Theatre of Harlem, The American Musical and Dramatic Academy and NY University's Tisch School of the Arts (Cap 21). He is a member of the Dramatist Guild of America and the Society of Stage Directors and choreographers and the African-American Playwright's Exchange. He is an Artistic Associate at the Smithsonian's Discovery Theatre. For his writing, Michael received a Puffin Foundation Grant, Creative Project Grant from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, the National Alliance for Musical Theatre's Producer-Writer Initiative, a Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Grant and his work has been accepted in the 2006 NYC International Fringe Festival. Michael conceived, directed and choreographed a new musical revue, The Stephen Schwartz Project, in collaboration with Broadway and Film composer, Stephen Schwartz at MetroStage. Michael serves on the Board of Theatre for Young Audiences USA.
