Halt! Who Goes There?
In March 1945, sixty-seven German Prisoners of War tunneled to freedom from Camp 198. It was the biggest escape attempt made by German POWs in Great Britain during the World War II. The whole community took part in the hunt for the prisoners, including four children who armed themselves with sticks, catapults and knitting needles and set about capturing the Gerries! But the children’s excitement was short lived when they discovered a much darker secret.
