Kari Margolis is Co-Founder and Artistic Director with Tony Brown of Margolis Brown ADAPTORS Company since 1984. Ms. Margolis has directed and co-authored 16 evening-length productions and large-scale site specific events for the Company which have toured nationally and internationally. Over the last 29 years, Ms. Margolis has developed Margolis Method, a unique physical and vocal approach to actor training. She is master teacher at the Company-run professional training program, has taught in the Masters of Fine Arts program in the University of Minnesota's Department of Theatre and Dance, and has taught master classes throughout the United States and internationally. Ms. Margolis has been the master teacher for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for ten years, is an artist-in-residence for the Association of Professional Actors and Directors in Barcelona, and has been the Keynote Speaker for several festivals and professional gatherings. Ms. Margolis also works as a guest director, is a published author and has served on numerous art panels in the Twin Cities and nationally including three years on the National Endowment for the Arts Professional Theatre Company panel. and She has been an NEA site-reporter for 15 years. Ms. Margolis' work has been recognized with six National Endowment for the Arts theater fellowships and other prestigious awards including a PEW/TCG National Residency Fellowship, a Creative Capital National Artist Fellowship, McKnight National Fellowship through the Minnesota Dance Alliance, a "Bessie" New York Performance Award, a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, and a Jerome Travel Grant. Kari is presently developing an international theatre training and research center in Barryville NY, along the beautiful Delaware River, 90 miles from NYC.
