This poetic play is the retelling of an ancient Scottish myth. In the story a fisherman falls in love with a Selkie, a seal who turns into a woman during the full moon. When she transforms into a woman and sheds her seal skin, the fisherman steals her hide so that she cannot transform back into a seal. She is stuck in human form, and agrees to marry the man. Together they have seven children but the sea still calls to the Selkie. She has to decide between the life she has made on land, and her true home in the sea. This play encourages actors to experiment with their voices and use their bodies in ways that create a lyrical and mesmerizing performance.
