Lavell Blackwell

Lavell Blackwell is a composer, teacher and singer whose work is performed all over the United States. His music combines diverse musical influences and techniques to create a singularly piquant and energizing sound. His work has been performed by the American Composers Orchestra, Winsor Music, the Radius Ensemble, the Boston Chamber Music Society, Music from Salem, Castle of Our Skins, the Boston Public Quartet and the Coastal Carolina Music Festival. He currently serves on the faculty of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA as part of their Composition department, having previously taught at the University of New Hampshire and the New England Conservatory of Music. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Composition from New England Conservatory.

Joshua H. Cohen

Joshua H. Cohen’s honors include a Jonathan Larson Grant, the Anna Zornio Children’s Theatre Playwriting Award (lyrics, Keep On Walkin’), and a MAC Award nomination for his cult cabaret hit “The Sacrifice of Love” (a.k.a. the waxing song). Productions include play The Thirteenth Commandment (Libra Theater, 7 NY Innovative Theater Award nominations, 2 wins; publication, Next Stage Press), musical Tamar of the River (Prospect Theatre, 2 Drama Desk nominations, world premiere recording from Yellow Sound Label), and children’s musical Flight School (Vital Theatre, OCR, national/international tour). The Findings Cycle, a series of ten-minute plays inspired by recent scientific studies, has been accumulating productions around the country and across the pond. Most recently, Joshua contributed music and lyrics for two episodes of So Proudly We Hailed, a series of short one-person musicals created with and based on the stories of U.S. armed forces veterans, available to stream from New Musicals Inc. James Armstrong

James Armstrong has had his plays performed by Detroit Repertory Theatre, Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, the Abingdon Theatre Company, and other professional companies. The New York Times hailed his play Foggy Bottom as "one of the most international farces around" and the Detroit Free Press called his play Capital an "inspired new comedy." A reading of Keep On Walkin' was co-produced by Amas Musical Theatre and The Actors Harbor Theatre, New York, NY, 2009. It was then sent on a tour of New York City schools, directed by Christopher Catt. It was an official selection of the Ronald M. Ruble New Play Festival at the Caryl Crane Youth Theatre Program in Huron, Ohio.

It won the Anna Zornio Children's Theater Playwriting Award, which led to a world premiere production at the University of New Hampshire, February 18-22, 2015. The production was directed by Raina Ames, with musical direction by John Berst.
