Spencer Lott

Spencer Lott is a maker, writer and puppeteer. In addition to playing Samuel on Sesame Street, his puppetry credits include Saturday Night Live, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (starring Tom Hanks), Hello Tomorrow! (Apple +), The Relationtrip (Hulu), Disney’s The Muppets and more.
His original plays include 9000 Paper Balloons (co-created with Maiko Kikuchi: HERE Arts/Japan Society), Scurry (Trusty Sidekick Theater Company and Lincoln Center Education), Blossom (“vivid”, “lovely, aching scenes...” - Village Voice), and Campfire (Trusty Sidekick Theater Company and Lincoln Center Education).
Lott has been awarded three Jim Henson Foundation Grants and along with collaborator Liz Hara, was the inaugural recipient of the Jim Henson Foundation Residency at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. Lott has been a resident artist at HERE Arts and was formerly a Teaching Artist with the New Victory Theater and BAM. He is the co-founder of Simple Mischief Studios - a drama desk nominated creative studio whose work spans theater, film, and picture books.
