Treasure Island (Kenny)
by Mike Kenny
Based on the story by Robert Louis Stevenson
Told in a classic British panto style, this hilarious version of Treasure Island is loaded with sword fights, talking parrots, pirates, and of course tons of audience participation. It begins with Jim and his mum, running an Inn that’s seen better days. Lady Trelawney wants to shut the place down, to the dismay of her daughter, who is good friends with Jim. When Billy Bones wanders in, their world is turned upside down. Long John Silver and his pirate crew come along to get the treasure map from Billy, who died from shock, so instead Long John ends up taking them all out to sea to the place where X marks the spot. They make it to the island, where Long John is keeps them captive as he looks for the treasure. At the end Jim saves them all with Ben Gunn, a deserted man on the island, and everyone (except Long John) gets what their heart most desires. This snappy tale grooves along with popular musical hits and will make your audience want to slap on an eye-patch and pull up the Jolly Roger!
